laminated safety glass
Safety glass that holds together when broken. It consists of two or more panes of glass which are held in place by an interlayer made of synthetic material or by an elastic thermoplastic foil. The interlayer keeps the layers of glass bonded even when broken, and its strength prevents the glass from breaking up into sharp pieces. Depending on the number, type and thickness of the panes, safety glass is used as sound insulation, and to protect against fire, breakage and even missiles.
